Okay, so you want to be a wood elf rogue. I would do a Thief or Scout rogue. 100% you should take Mobile at level 1. This will give you a 45 feet at level 1. At level 2, you can dash as a bonus action, and an action, in order to go 135 feet every round sustainably, unlike a monk who'll eventually run out of Ki points.

Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
If you were an aarakocra you’d be able to fly up and around the maze.
For classes you’ll want to go with monk which pairs well with aarakocra anyways and improves your speed further. (Also can do a decent job stealthing if that’s necessary).
Having rolled super high the way you did really helps out the monk class considering it’s a multi-ability dependent class (dex + wis).
Centaur. Centaur monk. What’s cooler than a monk? A monk with 4 legs and 2 arms!
plus centaurs have better move speed than wood elves. You can always multiclass 2 levels into rogue for cunning action later on without costing you longterm movement or damage die.

The dm has set up a way to keep flying races down below the walls of the maze sadly
In addition to Mobile Feat: Alert, Athlete, Charger, Crossbow Expert (no disadvantage on ranged attacks in melee, if you plan on going that route), Dungeon Delver, Inspiring Leader, Keen Mind, PAM, Sentinel, Shield Master, Skulker, and Tough could all be thematic wins. I'd probably wait until later on anything besides Alert, Mobile, CE, PAM, Sentinel, or Shield Master to see exactly what you're dealing with.
Swashbuckler has an increase to initiative and a mini disengage built in (which is redundant with Mobile).
Scout is a great fit especially once Superior Mobility kicks in at 9.
Barbarian gets increased mobility and could fit.
Monk could be interesting, especially Shadow Monk.
A dexterity based (at least for Armor) fighter could be interesting. Even just going champion could be a thematic win in this case. Ranged focus best 4 stats in the physical stats and Wisdom. More early ASIs than any other class to customize with additional feats.
The Spellcaster aspect could also be fun if you placed an emphasis on movement and defense with a few offensive skills and traps. Abjuration Wizard with Alarm cast as a ritual when time is possible.
It's a little different than normal but not dramatically so. Most classes would have something very thematically appealing for that setting and the RP opportunities would be sweet for something that wouldn't normally be appealing there (Paladin in Heavy Armor attracting all sorts of horrors while clanking around but too scared to leave the comfort of his shell? Oath of the Ancients could be the tie in).

Aarakocras are still pretty damn fast even if they can't fly out. 2nd level rogue can already. 50' flight, 50' Dash, 50' cunning action. 150' a round is not bad.

Unless the DMs way was very thin, hard to notice razor wire all over the maze at flying heights but still below the wall................
If we’re sticking to then what’s most important to you? Sorcerer and Wizard may be too squishy and not the greatest at early levels so look for a d8 and up for health. Also wearing heavy/medium armor may provide home brew penalties (only assuming) plus you gain disadvantage on stealth anyways so I’d recommend avoiding one of those classes.
Which leaves you with barbarian, bard, ranger, monk, warlock, and rogue.
Since this is a maze (assuming closer quarters). You’ll probably want to stick with barbarian, bard, monk, warlock, or rogue.
Assuming you actually need to be focused on doing something good rather than a jack-of-all-trades in a setting like this, you’d be left with barbarian, monk, warlock, or rogue.
Also, I’m not sure how often you’ll be with your team or solo (greatly affects power of rogue, sneak attack).
Other than that, choose an optimized race for one of those classes and you should be fine :)

Hey everybody
my DM is starting a new campaign later this week and Im seeing if anyone had good ideas for a character that I could use, speed will be very important
starting rules
all official races and classes including unearthed arcana and critical role content are both allowed no homebrew outside of this
level 1
free extra feat
rolls: 18,17,16,15,14,11
hope you have fun with this
I'd do a Mark of Passage Monk, but Tabaxi, Wood Elf, or most other races with the Mobile feat as well.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms
I like the wood elf idea, Im leaning more into rogue for class.
Thoughts?
