How powerful are they? If they are not very powerful then they can't be poloymorphed into powerful creatures.
I was thinking polymorph was based on the CR/level of the caster but in this instance it would still have been useful (though less so the twinning
First battle was essentially a prison break. The prisoners were all down to 1 HP at the start, except for the leader who was unconcious (and got about 20 point of healing). The leader NPC insisted they fought along side us. In the first action was All the prisoners got hit by a fireball which killed outright those that failed the save but not the one that succedded (the leader succeded and remained concious) so they had beween 15 and 30 HP. The leader did have a second level spell.
Second battle was similar, an apprentice wizard appealed for our help as the bad guys were killing everyone in his group. The apprenice cast misty step "for the first time ever" in order to escape. As we arrived some of the wizards and the bad guys were dead but remaining bad guys were torturing the rest trying to get access to the vault to steal their magic items. We tried to persuade a peaceful ending but really sucked on our rolls (3 rolls all below natural 6 and in single figures) the wizards were killed before they even got a turn, the apprentices. I suspect the apprentices were pretty low level but the msin wizard was probably a glass cannon.
A slight generalization polymorph is great for characters whi have few hit pointys remaining, turn them into a giant ape and they have 157 extra HP you can't get close to that with a 4th levelhealing spell!.
We didn't ask the DM but we might have got something decent. One fight was essentially a prison break, the other was interupting the bad guys trying to torture a wizard (who had some apprentices) to give them some magic items. The leader of the
It makes sense that the Rage could be suppressed by Polymorph like in an Antimagic Field does with magic inside the field, but for the Rage to end early for a reason not specified in the Barbarian's level 15 ability would be very different.
Ending and effect and suppressing an effect are two different things.
That's a really good point. "Suppress" rather than "end". Consider me corrected (but I still stand my ruling that rage is not active while the barbarian is a t-rex).

When the DM smiles, it is already to late.
