I just leveled up to level 8 as my first druid (moon . I have the observant feat that I took at level 4. My wisdom is currently 16. I use concentration spells in wildshape often and often lose them to damage. Should I take the asi to 18 wisdom for higher saves on spells (call lightning and hold person specifically)? Or should I take warcaster for the advantage on concentration checks?
Or is there something that I have overlooked?
(if allowed I added a link to the character sheet if you were curious)
I say go for WIS. That gives you a lot more benefits across the board. I'm a fan of maxing out your primary stat as soon as possible, but 18 is really good too.
A lot of it depends on how much time you’re spending in wild shape. I would be very torn if I was you too. If you’re spending most of your time that you’re in combat in wild shape then I’d probably go with War Caster. My Moon Druid is 7th level and I took an ASI at 4th level and at 8th level he’s taking Magic Initiate (Wizard) for Mage Armor, a long ranged damage cantrip, and a utility cantrip. Mage Armor replaces the natural armor of the beasts that you can wild shape so it’s a bump in AC for most beasts and, as you’ve discovered, beasts have ridiculously low armor classes!
I originally took observant since I was at 15 in wisdom to get me to 16 and the passive was I figured it would help notice traps and such (which it has a few times)
Being in wildshape more while in battle (or polymorph for the bigger stuff) I think I'm going to take warcaster as I don't usually hurt for spell prep. I'll take the low saves until the next asi.
I have a while until my next game so I'll keep weighing the pros and cons of both until then. Thanks to all the comments already. I read them all and I'm adding them to my already complicated list of what-if's.
Resilient Constitution might be a better choice than War Caster. It will make you proficient in Constitution saves, which help you maintain concentration, and it also provides a stat boost. If you're spending most of your time in wild shape, you won't be able to use the second part of War Caster anyway.

I'm of the opinion that you should always max out your primary stat before doing anything else, but if you're determined to focus on your concentration saves, I agree with this. Particularly if you have an odd CON stat.

Definitely wisdom. I don't think you should have taken the feat.

Warcaster in literally the number one feat taken by druids. DnD Beyond has released metrics.
Observant wasn't the best. I personally leave everything up to a roll and ignore passives...but that's me.
Warcaster, mobile (the features of mobile apply to your wild shape as well), resilient with con, or maxing wisdom.
For me since I like wild shape more than spell casting I'd of gone mobile then warcaster. Then resilient or maxing wisdom.
