Dragon egg and dragon scales?

For my character/campaign we have a character who has a baby dragon egg, and she also has dragon scales. Why isn't that able to be in her equipment?  

I think you misunderstood what dragon scales are.  They are the equivalent of Human Skin.  Note your human character does not have 'skin' equipped. 

That said, if you have dragon scale armor, you must equip it, not merely keep it on your character sheet.

They are the kind of items that go into the "Other Possessions" tab and are noted in manually.

You can make a custom item under the manage inventory options in the character builder.
