So my DM is very generous with us and has allowed us to build some custom items. He has allowed us to build up to 3 standard enchantments. This allowed me to make a ring of protection +1 thus freeing up using a cloak of protection. So now I have the belt of storm giant str, ring of protection, and situationally i attune to my Boots of flying.
I am looking for another item that would best suit my Fighter 10/barb 3 for attunement. I am not allowed to use the same item someone else has like cloak of the manta ray or cape mountebank. I have been considering Displacer cloak but in this world displacer beast are rare and hide would be hard to find.
Thoughts? Suggestions? even maybe a custom item that doesn't overkill?
Well, My gut instinct is to suggest a magic weapon of some sort (like flametongue or something).
But if you're specifically looking for non-weapons, In my campaign I actually homebrewed an item for my player who is also Barb/Fighter. It was a steampunk gauntlet with a pull cord (like an engine cord or something) that he could use a few times a day. The gauntlet let him wield 2 handed weapons with 1 hand for about a minute (if I remember correctly)
It was in the late-game When I gave it to him so it was rightfully powerful, but it was by no means game breaking.
Are you limited to Rare or lower rarity items? I'm going to assume so.
I'd take a Frostbrand Greatsword or some other magic weapon because you presumably are meeting a lot of creatures that are taking half damage due to your lack of a magic weapon. I like Frostbrand because of the Fire resistance as well as the damage boost.
If not, then either a Mantle of Spell Resistance or Spellguard Shield if you aren't using a two hander. Nothing messes your plans up more than spells like Hold Person, so advantage on saves is priceless.
If you're allowed a custom item, go for something that nobody else has. For a level 13 character I'd go for something like:
Lightning Storm Longsword, +1 Builds one charge on each successful melee attack. When you accrue 5 charges, cast a Lighting Bolt as a bonus action, resetting charges to 0. Cannot gain more charges for 10 minutes after casting Lightning Bolt.
I have a +2 and a +3 longsword. Both have 2 additional damages types at 2d6. So weapon wise my next upgrade would be like lvl 15+ for Sword of Kas or similar.
Butcher's bib seems to be the perfect item for me. Thanks for the input all.

Butcher's Bib? Blood Fury Tattoo? Shield of the Hidden Lord?
