So we can now have an azmodeus with good alignment…. Riggggghhhhhttttt…….. [REDACTED]
See that's why I'm loath to discuss this, I don't agree with you making it political, for me it's just a fear/doubt as how they're going to it game technically. As long as it was DM's discretion it was all smoke and mirrors, but the moment you make it official you will get arguments about if it was done within the rules. So I prefer no rules or if there need to be rules; ironclad and bulletproof rules with a good lore background explanation, preferably setting agnostic.

1) Named, individual characters still have a specific alignment. Asmodeus is still going to be listed as Lawful Evil. You DID actually read the changes you're complaining about, right?
2) The DM has always been allowed to make whatever changes they want. This isn't about "political correctness," it's about mechanical correctness. It's about teaching first-time DMs that they can break whatever rules they want if it suits them, but that there is still a standard to follow most of the time if they have players who would expect it - the standard being that, for example, devils are *typically* Lawful Evil, but the final call is up to the showrunner.
No rule has changed. It's literally JUST the wording of the rule that was already in place, to make it more clear for people who were confused. Again, if you want to be mad, then stay mad, but there is nothing to be mad about.
It literally says in the DM guide that they can break the rules…. If they break the rules by creating new rules…. How is that supposed to teach anything to anyone…. It is completely Political correctness and pandering…. Sorry you can’t see that. I’m disappointed that this game is taking such horrible direction.
I don't understand how folks have a hard time understanding that forb example: Orcs alignment any, compared to Throg the Slayer Race: Orc Alignment: Chaotic Evil or Grang Race: Orc Alignment: Neutral Good. it is exactly the same as they and we treat humanity some folks good some folks bad some folks just don't care aka neutral.
The only thing I think for sure is going to be in it is expanded spell lists (a la Tasha's) for every sorcerer subclass. It was just too good an innovation not to retrofit into the 5.25 game when it comes out.
I'd also love to see combat maneuvers for non- battlemasters too, but that could be a bit clunkier.

I might have agreed with you had I not lived through 30+ years of D&D, but if you know your D&D history, you would understand why this is not really political correctness pandering, its correcting 40 year old mistakes and taking responsibility.
I can imagine unless you have been playing D&D for a long time going back to the AD&D days you might not know this, but D&D has been for a very long time a wildly racist and sexist game. Not perpetrated by the players, but definitely perpetrated by the designers/publishers of the game. Drow Elves as an example are based on sexualizing and demonizing African women, just look at art that was done for Queen of the Spiders for example. In the original D&D art for the Drow, they were depicted as having black curly hair and were very much mapped after black people in the art and the way they are described.
None of that had ever been addressed, not in 2nd, 3rd or 4th edition and not even in 5th edition until now. This change is loooooong overdue and Wizards of the Coast is not getting a gold star because they should have fixed this two decades ago. It might feel like a bit of an overaction, but trust me when I tell you that if you had a complete picture of how often D&D did racist and sexist stuff in their books over the years, you would understand why the fact that its 2021 and they are only now doing it, is shockingly terrible.
Or how Liches are anti-semitic in the way they are described. People don't realise what a phylactery is.
All I can think of seeing how WotC is updating things to try and not be racist, sexist and all that is politically correct, is that they are damned no matter what they do, it's to little to late or it's why are they doing this. No matter what they do folks will be pissed off at them for doing it or not doing it sooner. They with the world they are in be the bad guy to someone.

You could but that’s at your discretion it’s ridiculous to make it official
