I was recently reading through the old UA articles (2015-2019) and I’m questioning why so many of the excellent ideas were abandoned. However, I think that some of these ideas could still be polished and given to the community as last gifts from WotC for 5e players.
Similar to the Monstrous Compendiums, these would be mini rules and character options “books” that offered bits of themed options from the old UA articles (and perhaps new ideas as well?). As an example take a look at the absolutely fantastic UA article “Modern Magic” from 2015. This article added the cleric City Domain, warlock Ghost in the Machine Patron, and wizard School of Technomancy, a new tool set (hacking tools) and rules to go with them, and fourteen spells. It also hints at alternate gun rules and stats. This would be a unique genre-specific pack of game rules that would make a great gift to 5e players. This is one of many articles with great rules. Obviously some are unbalanced and some are not exciting, but I think WotC could create some really cool content with this. What UA articles would you like to see? (Please do not mention the mystic. That is a topic for other threads.)
