Why can’t we get the Find Steed spell for this subclass? It would make so much sense and could function exactly like the paladin’s without stepping on any toes. Like, seriously, what is the big deal with giving subclasses Find Steed or rideable mounts? They’re just subclasses.
I stand by this for beast master, and artificer too
I was talking about subclasses. They adopt various things from other classes all the time. A cavalier is typically associated with mounted combatants. It’s also mentioned in the actual description of the subclass in this UA. As for the beast master, why wouldn’t a master of beasts be able to ride a beast?
Someone else mentioned this idea in a different thread. I have to agree. Horses are fairly cheap and easy to get, unless your DM is being mean. But they aren’t really survivable past T1.
I will say, as much as they’re meant to be the mounted knight type of class, they really only have a level 3 ribbon ability that requires being mounted. Theres also kind of the level 15 ability, but that also works when you’re not mounted. So you don’t strictly speaking need a mount to be effective. But it would be a good addition. Something like allowing it to be cast 1/day, with some kind of mechanic to upcast it as you increase your cavalier level would be pretty cool.
I would like to see Cavalier take some notes from the Purple Dragon Knight UA and lean into the mounted Fighter more. Start out with a ground mount that becomes a flying mount.

I like that idea. Maybe a choice of a few different types with different abilities. Horse > Pegasus, Drake > Dragon, etc.

Why would a caviler have a steed vice a rouge or mage etc.?
As the Paladin has it's roots in portraying West European knights that rode into battle and jousted etc. it makes sense that it has a rideable mount.
If we are just talking subclasses and it is not a big deal, then why not be a paladin?

Probably should’ve titled this about mounts
Because the Cavalier subclass is heavily focused on mounted combat, while Rogues and Mages are not.
