So, what’s everyone think of this? At first glance I wasn’t so sure, but after reading through it again, I actually love it! They’re trying new ideas instead of everything having teleports and temp hp. That’s what I’ve been waiting to see. The new sorcerer is very interesting, I’m not sure what they were planning but it’s definitely different. It reminds me of a nuclear fallout survivor, which is pretty cool.
Circle of Spores is back and looking way stronger. I don’t like the limitation on how many zombies you can create as the next two features revolve specially around that and basically kills a big part of your subclass but everything else seems fine. I would’ve liked to see Primal savagery on the spell list, though. And maybe have the emanation just be a con save instead of a reaction so it doesn’t interfere with the zombie creature. But I understand that there needs to be limits on things. Still, I’d like to see one or the other changes.
The cleric is different, I like the theme. Kinda reminds me of the oath of Glory Paladin a bit.
The species! I’m glad they’ve finally started using different types like the monstrosity. The koa-toa familiar is different but I’m here for it. But I’m an options person, so the more things the better. But some of these species are crazy long and powerful. I think that unlight guys are crazy overpowered but I’ll post again after I read it a few more times.
I only gave one quick read through but unlike the arcana book that jus came out or is just coming out i don't see much in the way of power creep for the sub classes, the sorcerer maybe i have not really tried to think it through much on how it could potentially be exploited. So 1, good for innovation, 2 good for less power creep, so i think assuming they are not changed id let them in my game.
i didn't really look at the races, so im not sure on that at all. but at a glance right now depending on how you run magic missile corrupting unlight might be broken not sure on that as its phrased a bit off from the standard. drider seems really good. illithdkin seems fairly standard, elf tiefling format. kuo toa, it seems decent find gamiliar is frea. mycanids, seem alright but the skill meld thing may provide more utility that in think.
