Sure you won't get much healing that way, and I imagine there would be consequences; if nothing else, your familiar would probably have strong feelings on the matter. But in a pinch, if you really need to empower your next attack roll and don't want to put yourself in melee range of a foe to do it, would it work?
it would, although mot familars have very low hp so you would need to be a chainlock for it to be really decent. otherwise its just a +1 and a 10g cost when you could have jut had it use the help action for advantage
Actually I was thinking Chainlock with an Imp or Quasit familiar, shapeshifted so it just reverts to its true form when it hits 0. Wouldn’t do it often, since it’s mean, but I was just curious if it would work at all. I imagine there would be disturbing consequences to sharing a telepathic link with a chaotic evil entity that you’ve pissed off...

I don't think the Imp or Quasit do go back they just die since they are not druids.
Oh, that's good to know, I've been treating their shapeshift like temp hitpoints for them. In their stat block it says, "It reverts to its true form if it dies." at the end of the shapechanger description. Does that just mean it's corpse? I've only played chainlock for one adventure, and he didn't take any damage, so that hasn't come up yet for me.

Immune like the creature is undead or a construct, or something that's immune to piercing damage? No, that wouldn't empower her. The empowerment is based off the damage done, and that wouldn't do any.

Inmune to piercing damage, thanks for the answer.

Yeah. Essentially, when it dies, it's obviously a fiend, regardless of what it looked like while it was alive.
Another question ,Can a dhampir bite to empwer herself an inmune creature?
