If I build a fighter / arcane archer does and then multi-class into a spell user class does the fighter levels go toward the 1/3 overall spell slot level?
similar to Eldritch Knight subclass? Currently The character builders doesn’t thing so, but lm not sure if that’s official or something missed in the builder.
The Arcane Archer subclass of Fighter doesn't have spellcasting.
Whilst they have several subclass features that are clearly magical in nature, it's not spellcasting, so doesn't count towards spell slots for multiclassing.
"Spellcasting" is a specific Class Feature, which the Eldritch Knight gets but the Arcane Archer does not. It's why Warlock levels are not added into the formula but rather handled separately. Warlocks don't get the "Spellcasting" class feature, they get "Pact Magic", which is also what the "Profane Soul" order gets in the Blood Hunter class.
Thanks, the not having spell slots to share make since. I'm actually running a fighter with a modified magic gunslinger homebrew subclass, multi-classing into (original Sorcerer before) the Artificer came out. And thought DNDB was not working out the spell slots correctly cause of the homebrew.
I also start my first Warlock in another campaign and that is some interesting food for thought JD.
I tried building dummy character with the standard class/subclass and was getting the same results.
