I have a level 3 Artificer (Battle Smith), which I want to multiclass into fighter, but I don’t know which fighter subclass would be best as I get to higher levels. I thought EK, BM or AA might work, as my character doesn’t have a very high strength score (and isn’t mounted). Any helpful tips or ideas?
I'd go with Eldritch Knight. The EK's spells will help your artificer spell progression, and they do get some useful spells that you can make use of.

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.
I'm assuming you have dex or strength at 13 to be abel to multiclass?
With that out of the way I'd say that it depends on what you want to get from your multiclassing since you don't really get that much from the basic fighter (no heavy armour proficiency for example). Arcane Archer is a pretty bad subclass to begin with and any fighter ability that uses your bonus action is going to clash with your Steel Defender. Battle Master would give you some extra options and so would EK but in all honesty, if you want to focus on being a Battle Smith, multiclassing into Fighter doesn't really give you much. It all comes back to hat you want to do with your character.
As a (melee) Battle Smith who was recently looking into the same possibilities, I found Battle Master to be the best fit with all the inherent close range control options, but decided on multiclassing into rogue instead of fighter in the end.
