I'll start with a few sentences for the setting:
Many a Tiskishman would consider magic a miracle. In fact, for the longest time, only one person in the village of Tiskish could weave the threads of magic; until, on the seventh day of Frost, young Ballow was born. Son of the metalworker Tenforge, Ballow had no blood connection to Mage Ator of Tiskish, yet by the age of six Ballow could conjure a magical flame at will, which burned brighter than the light of a Will-o-Wisp, and was mighty helpful in the smithy.

Running a (homebrew) hexcrawl open-world campaign called In Thrall of the Lost, inspired by BotW and Skyrim.
when Ballow became a teen, his rage got in the way of his powers, and he was sent to live in exile for centuries. This made him madder, and eventually, the so-said magical fire proof tower he was sent to exploded in a giant fire ball, leaving no life but himself for miles and miles.
