Hi, I recently decided to get back into Dungeons and Dragons after taking the last 30 years off. I went out and purchased the 5th Edition Player Handbook and read thru it so I'm thinking I would like to join a game that can handle a FNG. Also I wonder of becoming a DM again.
Makes me wonder if these old D&D Modules can be re-used in the 5th edition???
B1, B2, X1, X10, and a bunch of the dragonlance stuff..
They don't really "update" the module, just stat up the existing monsters, so some of the 1e assumptions (like hundreds of magic items for everyone!) still hold.
Some of the classics have been updated and published for 5E. For example, Tales from the Yawning Portal.
In my experience, running 1E modules in 5E has been simply a matter of running the module. :-) Convert monsters on the fly, adjust numbers up or down if the encounters seem too easy or too difficult, and divide every coin value of treasure by 10.
I've run about half of the Desert of Desolation series and about a third of Against the Giants (the one from Dungeon Magazine that included the Stone Giant lair).

For sure, in fact X1 is pretty relevant to the recent 5th edition release Tomb of Annihilation!
Those are all classic D&D adventures and I remember running them "back in the day"
There's a little bit of work to do with converting magic items and stats, but Wizards of the Coast produced a handy conversion guide.

There is a project called 'Classic Modules Today" which publishes 5E stats for all the foes in classic modules. For example, see http://www.dmsguild.com/product/189455/Classic-Modules-Today-G123-Against-the-Giants-5e.
