Is there a place to see the actual backdrop art? I love what we can see of it, but most of it gets hidden by the character sheets. Would love to be able to pull some of it for desktop backgrounds.
I am 100% on mobile. I can't open source code and have almost never seen the backgrounds I've unlocked.
I am 90% on mobile, too. But if you have access to a desktop computer once in a while you can still get the backdrop art. And the OP specifically asked for "desktop backgrounds". ;-)
Although I am a bit late for it. But maybe it helps someone else with the same problem.
The backdrops I have seen so far are all art from the corresponding source book, though.
So maybe you can just look through that books content to see the full image?
I can confirm that the artwork that we use to create based upon the backdrops from the sourcebook and can be found in its full form by browsing through the relevant sourcebook.
Okay, so where do we see more than a thumbnail for the Mythic Odyssey of Theros backdrops, or other preordered items that offer perks ahead of the actual release?

You won't - the full artwork is part of the sourcebook and will be available on release.
I understand wanting the art though - some of it is really beautiful!
Is it not possible to include a link to the artwork or something from the page where we can pick them? Rather than digging through the book?
You already have a detailed guide on how to get that link from your character sheet...
Right now there is no easier way to get that link and Theros will likely release before a feature for such a link gets planned and implemented. The developers are already working on numerous other features after all.
Using chrome, when choosing your backdrop, you can hold down on the image to open it in another tab, then hold down on the image again to download. The only time I see the backdrop otherwise is when I'm choosing the character I want to view. I don't have an iPhone, so I'm not sure how to view the image if that's what you're running.
Edit: You can also use the options to view the desktop site. That will show the art instead of just your sheet.
Is it possible for your guys to make a set of Backdrops art which are more background-related or just to illustrate one thing, like books in a library, the interior of a tavern, an armory, a church, a village, a battlefield, a garrison, a tower, etc. That way it doesn't have a specific theme like Vecna or the Giants.
It would be much appreciated. Thx.

A dungeonmaster since the 80's, I loved D&D ever since I bought my first book at a local hobby store, the 2nd edition Advanced Dungeon Master's Guide and since then, my life was forever changed. 'Nuff Said.
I was wondering this same thing... if there is a place where the entire can be viewed without the character elements layed on top. I also agree that there should be without having to dig around for them or the more complicated method Naresea suggested.

I don't think so, but I definitely would like one.
I would also like to have this.
Well... it is a website so of course you can access the images with a bit of technical know-how. :-)
Steps for Chrome:
1. Go to the character that has the backdrop you want
2. Right click on the background and select "Inspect (Ctrl + Shift + I)
3. A scary menu full of strange code will open. That is the websites HTML code.
4. Click anywhere in that code
5. Tap "Ctrl + F" to open the search
6. Search for this exact string: "background: url("
7. You will see something like this:
@media (min-width: 1921px) { html body.body-rpgcharacter-sheet { background: url( https://media-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/avatars/7118/399/637038138795085570.jpeg)
8. Copy the link in the url brackets (https://media-waterdeep.cursecdn.com/avatars/7118/399/637038138795085570.jpeg) and open it in a new tab.
9. You have the backdrop. :-)

I'm not saying it needs to be out with There's, and a guide that requires digging into the page source isn't exactly yet friendly
I'm suggesting a feature for the future to include direct links to the art instead of requiring is to dig through the entire sourcebook to find it.

So, who is the artist for the Cleric default background. The one with the mountains and some sort of temple complex? How can you find out
That art is from the PHB. Art credits are listed in the back of the book, but I don't think there's any individual attribution.

Shayone | Hobgoblin | Sorcerer | Netherdeep
