I have a character that is multiclassed into a bard, solely for roleplay reasons. I however, absolutely suck at playing the bard portion of his character. He has 4 levels as a bard so far (8 total), and took the College of Eloquence as it fit his personality best. He has a book of poems (a made up one) so poems would probably be best, plus I suck at singing. I just need some ideas really. If it matters he's a Tiefling boy of almost 14. Help would be much appreciated !
When it comes to playing Bards, there almost comes a certain expectation that you HAVE to have a song/poem for every occasion that you can just launch into when it's your turn. This is a fallacy - you can just say 'I sing an amazing Blues song to inspire my ally!'.
That said, everyone loves a role player, and nothing screams roleplay like the Bard class. Some people are very gifted and can just improvise on the spot. For those that don't have that skill, I always suggest going the easy route and editing stuff that's in existence, rather than going for originality.
For the sake of ease, there's nothing wrong with borrowing from a classic poem - takes Roses are Red; endless playtime there limited only by your imagination and your rhyming ability:
'Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
You're got this Aragorn,
Here's a Buff for you!'
'Roses are Red,
Some of them Black,
Swing your axe with accuracy,
Enjoy your boost to attack!'
'Roses are Red,
Dead leaves a brown,
Watch the enemy falter,
As I make them all fall down!'
If it ever comes to songs, an easy tactic I use is to take any early-era Beatles song and change the word 'Love' to 'Buff' or 'curse' -
'I Buff you, yeah, yeah, yeah! I buff you, yeah, yeah, yeah! With a Buff like that, you know you should be glad!'

This is... amazing. Pure, unbridled insanity, but amazing nonetheless.

There was once a man from Nantucket.....
lmao... I was going to say '14 year old Tiefling? Google: limericks.' but you guys got this!
And if you want to wax sappy, well here's my favorite poem:
'Where There's a Will There's a Way'
by John Godfrey Saxe
(instead of 'Roman soldier' insert 'Barbarian half-orc' or whatnot? It's probably past copyright worries??)
hahaha!
To a barbarian:
"Axes are red,
His face is there.
Put them together,
And let's Rip And Tear!"
*Cue the Doom eternal OST*
