I can't figure out how to create a certain magical item on D&D Beyond and have all the abilities actually show up on the character sheet. I need some help on how I need to add the appropriate bonuses and such.
Item specifics: The item in question is a set of hand wraps that confer attack bonuses to a monk's unarmed strike. The current iteration of the item gives a +2 bonus to attack and damage, and successful attacks also grant an additional 1d6 fire damage to the target.
My problem is that if I make it an "item", then the +2 to attack and damage are successfully added to the unarmed strike, but the +1d6 fire damage does not appear. And if I make it a "weapon", then the base damage doesn't scale when the monk increases in level because "unarmed strike" isn't a choice as a weapon type. Is there some sort of work around that I'm missing? Or do I just need to make it a "weapon" of the appropriate damage type and just change it when the monk's base unarmed strike damage increases?
