Hello everyone, I’am trying to understand how to manage a mounted combat.
Controlled mount: I understood that the mount takes the rider's initiative. The mount and rider share the same turn. The rider can make him and the mount move to a position; use the mount's action (example: Dodge); the rider can use part of his movement to position himself within the 2x2 space of the mount (a warhorse); the rider can use his action, for example to attack with a spear at 10ft, he can even make multiple attacks if he has them; if so far in the turn the mount's did not use his action, the mount could Disengage; the rider can use the rest of the mount's movement; the rider can use his movement. Is this correct? Any recommendation?
Independent mount: the warhorse can attack, the rider can use ready to make his attack in the middle of the mount's movement. Do you recommend a different way of combat using an independent mount?
Launching and receiving attacks while being mounted:
If a creature is riding a horse, and moving faster than a creature that walks.
The rider launches a ranged attack: the attack should receive a modifier? Disadvantage? Or add +2, +5 to the target AC like cover does?
The rider is the target of a ranged attack: the attack should receive a modifier? Disadvantage? Or add +2, +5 to the target AC like cover does?
