I'm thinking of joining a campaign where all characters get a 1st level feat. So that frees up my 4th level feat for ritual caster as a possibility. My character concept is a NG scourge Aasimar aberrant mind that is less Cthulu and more "haunted one" psionic.
I like familiars but was wanting something more psi flavored, I'm hoping for some suggestions. Reflavoring and reskinning ideas are great too.
Based on what you've said I think reflavour Find Familiar to create a "Psionic Shard" and go a familiar you like with flying but just flavour it as a Psionic infused crystal that floats near you like a Ion Stone. If it is killed/destroyed in some way then your find familiar spell just creates a new stone out of your psionic magic but uses the same costs and compoennets as usual. Otherwise you could pick a non-flying familiar and reskin it to look like an intellect devourer, which could be quite interesting if you play it like an over effectionate puppy.

Well of you want less tentacles then the Gnome Squidling and the Chwinga Squidling (see video below) are out.
So in that case ae you looking or something a little more ghostlier? Or maybe crystalline shards that forms the shape of a given animal familiar? Or both?
I'm looking around at some non PHB options and it seems there are some that people are saying are an option but seem fairly OP. Primarily I'm looking at the Gazer from Volo's. I'm wondering if this is actually allowed RAW.
The gazer could be fun to play as a "NO, bad dog" as he floats around being aggressive. I'm kind of thinking baby Groot during the opening of Guardians 2.
I'm just gonna go ahead and throw in my vote for the oft-overlook and vastly underappreciated Flumph.
They're mysterious - nobody knows where they came from. They've got psionic powers. They can fly (well, okay, float). They can communicate with you telepathically. What more could you want? You're aberrant, they're aberrant. You're psionic, they're psionic. You're aiming for Diet Cthulhu, they've got tentacles! You're perfect for each other.

FLUMPH!
I would love a Flumph, its the first thing that came to mind. But it didn't seem like that was an option for find familiar.
If there is some rule or loophole that I can persuade the DM with let me know.
When you said haunted one I immediately thought of reskining an owl or raven as a creepy doll (owl for a more sneaky feel, raven would let your doll mimic speech) floating doll that may or may not sing creepy nursery rhymes ;-)

And now all I can think about is a creepy doll floating around singing the nursery rhyme from A Nightmare on Elm Street...
One, Two, Freddy's Coming For You
Three, Four, Better Lock Your Door
Five, Six, Grab A Crucifix
Nine, Ten, Never Sleep Again
And if freddy is the reason for the character being haunted then it would certainly fit.
