basically i have the idea of trying to make a Dragon character using only legal game mechanics. at the moment what i have is
Aarakocra
Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer
and either Fighter-rune knight, or Barbarian-path of the beast.
i cant decide between the last two, but also, does anyone else have any ideas that might work better? Does anyone have an opinion between Rune knight and path of the beast?
Rune knight is because it gives some nice abilities similar to what dragons get naturally sometimes, and i like the idea of growing in size some times, gives a cool imposing visual. (in my head at least.)
Path of Beast, you get rage, and natural weapons. later on those natural weapons also become magic weapons. all that sounds really cool to me and very thematic.
anyone got any feedback on what would work better?
Your example seems to be a "dragon like" character. Other examples of dragon like characters might be Dragonborn or half dragon(which could be Aarakocra), if you did pick the Half-Dragon Aarakocra, you would have a breath weapon and flight. If you want to play an actual Dragon get the True Polymorph spell, from my understanding, at 20th level you could take the form of 2 different Ancient Dragons and all dragons of less than CR 20.
Appearance. Your tiefling might not look like other tieflings. Rather than having the physical characteristics described in the Player's Handbook, choose 1d4 + 1 of the following features: small horns; fangs or sharp teeth; a forked tongue; catlike eyes; six fingers on each hand; goat-like legs; cloven hoofs; a forked tail; leathery or scaly skin; red or dark blue skin; cast no shadow or reflection; exude a smell of brimstone.
So basically you have horns, tail, wings, fangs, scales, cat eyes, and a forked tongue. All this before you even take a class.

A Dragonborn or kobold Genie Warlock who picks a patron to match their elemental type could work.
6th Level gives them the ability to fly a number of times equal to their proficiency.
Eldritch Blast can be re-flavored as a breath weapon.
Tieflings get a wings option in SCAG.
Plus this:
