Hello, So I was looking though some spells and one in particular got my attention. The 3rd level spell Catnap. After reading its description it got me thinking, Does it synergize with the High Elf racial ability Trance? I know they can't be magically put to sleep and the spell says they fall unconscious not asleep. What are your thoughts on this?

Elves can be magically knocked unconscious (if they couldn't, damage spells wouldn't work properly on them when dropping them to 0 hit points), but the only synergy I can see here is that they'll become valid targets for Catnap again in 4 hours rather than 8.
I mean spells do what they say they do. It says a willing target falls unconscious, but any Elf with Fey Ancestry can't use magic to sleep. willing or otherwise.

I wish they wouldn't use this kind of naming. If the spell doesn't put you to sleep, then they shouldn't use a name that reference sleep. All it does is creates confusion.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
Both spells effectively do the same thing but confer different benefits, but one was told it works and one was told it doesn't by different people on the design team via twitter.

Your link only talks about Sleep, which both links articles agree do not affect Elves.

Right, but sleep gives the unconscious condition which is the point of the first link. So one says it can work because they aren't immune to that, the other says it can't because it puts them to sleep.

One said that Elves are immune to Sleep because it mentions slumber which Elves are immune to, but they're not immune to Catnap because they are not immune to being Unconscious and it doesn't mention being put to sleep (that's silly in my eyes since a catnap is a form of sleep, but that's their logic and there are several rulings that I disagree with in terms of interpreting what's written, so I guess my opinion means nothing).
Yours says that they are immune to Sleep so they aren't part of the spell's calculations.
There's no contradiction there that I can see. Some silly logic, but not a contradiction.

There was a Sage Advice regarding how Catnap and Sleep affect Elves: https://www.sageadvice.eu/catnap-spell-are-elves-unable-to-be-affected-by-it-even-willingly/
In short, Sleep doesn't affect Elves besides it refers to "magic slumber", but Catnap does since it only refers to making creatures fall unconscious.
(Of course it depends on whether you'd go by a Sage Advice that isn't in the Compendium...)

In short, govern it how you want.
