Sometimes I have thought about D&D multiverse with the possibilites of alternate timelines. I don't remember if I read it in the AD&D 2nd sourcebook "Chronomancers" but I like the idea of "Time Spheres", something like the Crystal Spheres from "Spelljammer" but with some change, maybe by fault of chronomancers or some time-traveler.
Why to allow uchronies or parallel universes in the D&D multiverse? To explain possible retcons or reboots, or to allow more creative freedom for fanfiction, for example a story avoid Raitslin's daughter traveling to the past to avoid her father became the supreme deity and caused an apocalypse/argamedon, or lord Soth travels to the past to kill the king-priest avoiding the Cataclysm. Or Krynn being invaded and destroyed by the defirlers from Athas(Dark Sun).
Or deities could create "time spheres" as special demiplanes, something like computer backups in the space-time continium, to avoid possible time paradoxes, and the Hollow World from Mystara setting would one example of those time spheres.
