As a very nice thank you for helping him move, my DM offered to give us all a magical item of our choice, up to rare (or very rare if we can justify it.) My character is a bit of a troublemaker, so I thought it would be fun to pick an item that helps me play that way—something that introduces an amount of uncertainty, or some weird fun game mechanics. Just a nice item that lets me goof around a little bit! If you have any favorite "fun" items, I'd love to hear suggestions—I've been trying to go through the item list but there are a looooooot of items.
Cloak of Displacement could be fun, and it's a nice bit of defense. Or a Cloak of the Bat! Helm of teleportation could come in real handy. A Wand of Fireballs is always a good way to start some sh*t if you need to.

If you're a wizard who likes messing with people, the duplicitous manuscript loads you up on illusion spells and makes it harder for marks... err, people to see through them

There is always the Deck of Many Things - an item so chaotic (and where the majority of options are detriments), it can break the game itself with some of its negative effects. I would not recommend players draw from it (unless they are the kind of player who is cool with loosing all of their gear, dying, or accidentally writing themselves out of existence), but as something a player tricks NPCs into drawing from? There’s hardly anything more delightfully chaotic.

Hello!!
As a very nice thank you for helping him move, my DM offered to give us all a magical item of our choice, up to rare (or very rare if we can justify it.) Thank you!
Wand of Wonder.

If you happen to be a bard, the reveler's concertina is great fun
