I wanted to create this poll to see what Races other people like to play in DND. I know that this poll may seem lame but I would really like to hear what people use as their character race. I guess you could say i am curious as well as a lover of statistical things. I hope this poll does not bother or annoy other members. If it does, thel free to express yourself. So please vote if you like. I would like to hear views and opinions on this topic.
When using standard array the half-elf gives you the ability to even out your stats so that you aren't left with an odd number for abilities. They are also very good with language ability. They have Fey ancestry and dark vision + the proficiencies they get. Overall an awesome race for any charisma build but can also be good for any other class too (although there are better options for the other classes...)
Dwarf has always been one of my favorites, simply for the flavor aspect. Dwarf just fits right in perfectly with so many classes. The dwarf fighter is a classic, iconic character, very Lord of the Rings. The dwarf cleric has the same evocative imagery, and the cleric key art in the Player's Handbook is a dwarf. You name it, and you can picture a dwarf of that class! Paladin, Wizard, Ranger, they're all perfect!
Personally speaking I am an elf person. I prefer to play the avariel. There is so much i love about them. But the one thing I love most is flying. Its a personal freedom for me. While others may or may not agree with me, i still love the avariel. In all honesty i have been in numerous campaigns in the past with them. they just work for me. I guess you could call me a flying elf lover lol. But in all seriousness, i just feel close to them. Yes you can call me biased since i dont use any other races. Its just that i cant see me playing anything else...yes im weird lol
To hermes, even though i never played a dwarf i do understand and respect your choice. i had a friend long ago who did use one and they was amazing as a dwarf. so ty for your vote. and ty to all those who have replied...and ty to those who do reply
While I understand missing out races from other source materials - why is Dragonborn missed out? They're a very interesting race and I often play these.

To answer your question i was speaking of earlier editions of DND. i should have been more specific in my post start. so i apologize for the misunderstanding.. i hope i have not offended you or any one else

Not offended, just confused. There's nothing in your post to refer to previous editions in any way. Plus you include Tieflings which have only appeared in 4th and 5th edition but neglect Dragonborn which also only appeared in 4th and 5th edition. So, even with this new information you are talking about only past editions, I still remain confused why you ommitted Dragonborn?

That is why i stated that i should have been more specific on which editions i was referring to. and it seems to me your getting upset over a race i did not mention. i have offered my apology on the misunderstanding on why it was not mentioned..so as of now, i hope things are cleared up
To all readers of this topic, I would personally like to clear up any misunderstanding my thread has caused. In my original post i know i did not specify what edition i was referring to. So i apologize for that. So i want to rephrase my original question with more specificity. What Race from the 3rd edition of DND do you like to use? To those who answered the original question, feel free to comment if you like. To alll others who havent answered please read this comment first before replying so you have the right question..

I'm a fan of Illumian, Aasimar, Catfolk, and Fey'ri... not really sure why Tiefling shows up on your list to vote for but nothing else not in the 3rd edition Player's Handbook does.

I'm not upset, - I can't even imagine how something like this would be upsetting to anyone. I was first simply curious as to why dragonborn was not included and then confused by your answer as it did not make sense to me. I am simply trying to understand. If you do not want to answer you don't have to or you could just say "I'm only interested in answers about these races" or something and you don't need to apologise at all.

Again, only out of curiousity I would ask why only 3rd edition and if only 3rd edition why have you included Tiefling since they did not appear as a playable race until 4th edition?

Off this list, I am partial to humans. I like the extra versatility that that lvl 1 feat gives. Humans are usually easy to fit into any campaign as well, and since I just make characters as a concept hits me, without any knowledge of the setting they may (if ever) be played in, I make it as easy to blend as possible. Other than that I am a big fan of Aasimar for no particular reason than because I like them.

Goliath online. Easily the best race then Firbolg is a close second. Human third I guess.
