At the risk of sounding completely noobish and uninformed: What do I need to buy, if I want to make a goblin character - on DNDB?

Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse should have the current version of the race

So, in other words 210 RW monies to roll a single character of a race I happen to like. That, or make it for free somewhere else. Less convenient, but free. I'm afraid this isn't the proper way to sell me books =D

its cheaper to just buy the goblin itself for $1.99 if that's what you want...but the best option (imo) is to buy all 33 races in Mordenkeinen's for the group price. If you ever decide to buy the whole book in the future, what you spend now will be discounted.

It's $1.99 for a single race, or $9.99 for all the playable races. Honestly, given how much work a homebrew is, you're generally better off paying for it. By the time you've put it all in and got it working...you could have worked for that time, bought the race and have extra cash left.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
It should be noted you can also buy individual subclasses that would make for a fun goblin character. A high level Assassin Rogue has a cute interaction with Fury of the small; Rune Knight fighter could be flavoured to make a fun goblin fighter who uses their tribalistic language to invoke magic; etc.
Plenty of great options out there for a Goblin.
(Also, just as an aside, to the extent that D&D Beyond is “not the proper way to sell books”, that cuts to the buyer’s favour not Wizards’. The ability to not only buy just the things you need, but to have those purchases discount the full book if you decide to buy it later is quite beneficial to players who want to pick and choose what content they consume, without having wasted money if they decide they want the whole pie later.)

You can buy individual parts of the book for USD $2 each, including this race.
As you may have guessed, I don't exactly shower WoTC with money. I'm not sure I'm buying 33 races, since I'm ... something of a sourpuss, and I hate the vast majority of newer races. But I'd spring 2 of your weird foreign exchange units for the goblin though =)
Thanks. I think I'd have never figured that out on my own. This once again proves one of my guidelines in life: When in doubt, ask someone who knows =)

Ten dollars could buy you five species from M3. Or the same ten dollars could buy you all 33 species from M3. For players, the species bundle from that book is a reasonably solid buy. Gets you a lot of options for future shenanery, and unlike full-book purchases, a'la cart purchases do not discount each other. Buy Gobbo now for 1.99, and you'd still have to pay 9.99 for the remaining 32 later if you decide you want them.
Hm. You know - as I was going over the list, I did consider buying all 33 races, but since someone mentioned discounting, I didn't. Now it seems I might have put slightly more thought (or patience) into that. Oh well, we live and learn, right?
Thanks again =)

Huh. Never knew that. I wonder if that's intentional or an oversight.

This^ I like the builder on Beyond better and it's nice to have access to some content when I travel, so I bought a bit of stuff. The package of those 33 species options is awesome and well worth the price as a player.
That being said, if you just want the Goblin, then individually purchase that. No need to pay $30 for things you don't need when you can pay $1.99.

I think it's just one of those things they couldn't be assed to code. Having a'la cart stuff discount other a'la cart stuff was a step too far. Or at least I'm reasonably certain you don't get discounts that way. Still.
Unrelated: my favorite goblin characters are GAHblins, i.e. goblins with extremely high Stealth bonuses that sneak around behind you before poking you unexpectedly in the back, prompting a sudden outcry of "GAH!"
GAHblins. Fun for the whole family - and a great way to keep on your toes.

Yes, yes, yes. This.
Sneaky characters are always fun. So are hilariously bad puns.

Would have thought it would have been easier to code. Just do a check to see if subsets have had money spent on it, if so, discount it by that much. Oh well.

I always play the same goblin. Games he's in never seem to survive for long. He's a highly devout coward, a kinda-sorta pacifist (he's afraid of blood, his own in particular), and has perfected the noble art of fleeing while shouting taunts at his pursuers - hiding, sniping, and fleeing some more. He's immensely fun to play.
In his perfect world, he becomes a rogue/psion multiclass, to take Up The Walls, Speed of Thought, Burst ... and so on, becoming basically too mobile for game masters to tolerate =)
