why there is no kobold press content in dnd beyond to buy? as a dm who run three campaigns, one of them in midgard - i could use the content of kobold press in dnd beyond. of course i'll be paying for this - but since the announcement of the critical roll campaign setting showed (to me at least) that WoTC is fine with 3rd party content - why not kobold press? or nord games?
There's no third party content to buy because of the complexities of negotiating a three (or four) party business arrangement for digital distribution, especially on a platform that has an agreement with WotC that allows it to advertise itself as the official toolset of D&D. Adam has said he'd love to get third party content on the site, but it's a complex thing to arrange.
Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is not third party; it is being designed and published by Wizards of the Coast using material provided by Matt Mercer. This is just the same as the other non-Faerun content such as Eberron, Ravnica, Theros and Acquisitions Incorporated. This isn't the same as kobold press content, which isn't being designed or published by Wizards of the Coast.
You will only ever see 3rd party content in the homebrew section. It's a legal and contracting thing, they can't just put whatever they want on here.
That's not accurate, you shouldn't ever see 3rd party content in the homebrew section, only in your homebrew collection and if you put it there. DDB allows users to homebrew in 1st and 3rd party content themselves for personal use only. It should not however be shared with the community and they ask that community members report any homebrew content violating this rule.
Definitely understand why it's difficult, but just do want to add my voice to requesting D&D Beyond negotiating the ability to have some DMs Guild content on here.
More specifically, I would LOVE for the pugilist to be available like the Blood Hunter. :)
Well it could happen if kobold press and dndbeyond worked something out like a deal
as critical roll and dnd beyond have
so it’s not out of the realm of possibility, just hasn’t happened yet
Read up, it’s not critical role and DNDbeyond....it’s critical role and WoTC.
I mean the deal Critical role and DNDbeyond had prior to widemount
They didn't have a deal other than a promotion when DDB sponsors critical role, and also hosts two of Matt's homebrew, which isn't published content. No paid critical role content is offered on the site outside of EGTW
DDB devs have stated they are not opposed to it, but there needs to be an agreement between Fandom, WotC, and the 3rd party publisher (and possibly additional copyright/licence holders of the 3rd party content) on what can be available for what price and who gets paid what.
Plus I'm pretty sure WotC likes DDB having mostly official stuff so there is little confusion.
i'm sure that WoTC can reach to an agreement with 3rd party companies.
yes this is WoTC platform and i get they get to choose which content to insert - but like they listened to their critical roll players and made a join publication with them - i'm sure that something similar can be made with kobold press or nord games

WotC making a publication using CR media and IP isn't the same as them agreeing to let DDB host third party paid content on the site. It's two entirely different propositions.
The main thing you have to remember is that as the official tool set for the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons, DDB has a certain perception around it that; that content you buy on here is official D&D content. For DDB to start also distributing third party content, that might muddy things in a way WotC wouldn't want. It's not as simple as being sure "WotC can reach an agreement", because such agreements are incredibly complex and not always (rarely in fact) possible.

They already have, several times!
Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Rise of Tiamat, and others are created by Kobold Press, to be published by Wizards of the Coast.
They key issue is that, if the content is being published via another publisher, then it gets very complex.
i didn't say it was simple, nor that they should get all the 3rd party content into dnd beyond. but i want to see a cooperation between WoTC and the big 3rd party publishers. this is something that i will be willing to pay for

You're conflating two different elements of TTRPG products; creator and publisher. In Stormknights example, Kobold Press was the creator and WotC was the publisher. That's the same for Acquisitions Incorporated (created as a collaboration between Penny Arcade and WotC, published by WotC) and Explorer's Guide to Wildemount (Matt Marcer/CR collab with WotC, published by WotC).
However, you're talking about content that is already being published by another company, which is sometimes the same company as the creator (for example Kobold Press self publishes). This is complicated because of rights ownership; the publisher gets certain rights to distribution and printing. Agreements between publishers and distribution platforms (such as DDB) can't just be changed on the fly to allow other publishers to use the platform.
as a customer, i would like to have this option and willing to pay for it. the purpose of this thread is to see how many more there are and hope that there will be enough so WoTC will be interested in doing it.
i can only hope that there are enough people who think like me
As above though, it is a very complicated and difficult thing for this to happen and is therefore unlikely to happen any time in the immediate future, no matter how much we would like it to be otherwise.
I mean hypatheticly speaking we could make another catagory for it like how critical role content has it's own catagory and you just seperate it like that
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Marvarax andSora (Dragonborn) The retired fighter and WIP scholar - Glory
Brythel(Dwarf), The dwarf with a gun - survival at sea
Jaylin(Human), Paladin of Lathander's Ancient ways - The Seven Saints (Azura Claw)
Urselles(Goblin), Cleric of Eldath- The Wizard's challenge
Viclas Tyrin(Half Elf), Student of the Elven arts- Indrafatmoko's Defiance in Phlan

The technical aspects aren't the real challenge. The biggest challenge is mostly that they need to play some of that dreaded game of Licenses & Lawyers. :)
(And that's one of the reasons I think DMs Guild content might be a more likely first step than third party material, but either is probably a low priority. *shrug* Hopefully someday, however.)

There are only 3 pieces of Critical Role content on or coming to DDB
The blood hunter and gunslinger are free 'homebrew' content (not published anywhere as a paid product)
Explorer's Guide to Wildemount is a WotC product in partnerships with Critical Role.
None of it is paid third party.
