Hi! I want to play as a melee genasi, though I've never played one before. My friend once said that genasis are not very fun to play, but I want to give it a try. So are there any fun Fighter or Barbarian builds?
What makes a race fun to play? It's just a race, it really only matters as much as you and your table make it matter. Did your friend not enjoy the lore of Genasi or something?
Your friend should really try reading the rest of the races - if Genasi are just colored humans, then so are just about all of the rest of them. Dude's oblivious.
Anyway, Earth Genasi ignore difficult terrain on the ground, making it easier to get into melee range. They can also cast Blade Ward as a bonus action a few times per day, making it easier to stay alive while you're soaking up damage.

Well, he stated two things that I can argue with him about:
1) Genasi just feel like coloured humans (really a bad statement)
2) Their mechanics are not so usefull (which I cannot say much about, because I never played them)
So I believe I should change my question a bit:
Are there any good genasi Fighter or Barbarian builds?
