We don't have legacy classes, spells, or subclasses. But the artificer class is getting dumped from the new core rulebooks, and so are many subclasses. And every class is getting updated. So, like with other forms of content, is every changed piece of content getting a legacy version of it? So for example, will there be a legacy fighter that is just the 2014 fighter?
I think what they call it will be very important because calling 5e content legacy when other 5e content comes out doesnt make much sense it would be better called 2014 and 2024 fighter.
The Artificer isn’t being “dumped”: it wasn’t in the 2014 PHB either. It remains in Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and should continue to be playable alongside the 2024 PHB characters.

We don’t know yet, is the short answer.
