I just noticed this: "Due to shipping challenges, the release of Dragon Delves, the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons adventure anthology, will be delayed in the UK and Europe by a month."
I'd like to understand what kind of shipping challenges we're talking about. As far as I know, the books sold in Europe are printed in Belgium, so a one-month delay is quite long. What happened? There can't be any real 'shipping challenges' if the books are printed on the same continent.
At least I would like to know that they don't plan to sell books printed in China in Europe. I prefer books printed in EU countries.
We have an amazon distribution center/warehouse just two blocks away from where I live. I once had a package tracked to that warehouse, which then took another two days to get to me due to "shipping delays". Funnily enough, I actually asked if I could just go pick it up and they denied me XD.

As a shipping logistics professional, this made me laugh loud enough that the rest of the office had to come over and see.
It's good to laugh. I know that "shipping" means any kind of transportation of goods. But in this case I afraid that the shipping problems do refer to actual ships which will be used to transport the Chinese printed books to Europe and European printed books to America.
Lets not forget as well there's an entire supply chain just to get to the point of printing. Yes the books might be printed in the EU but they need to buy paper, inks etc so the "shipping delay" could at that point in the production
Hey there! Fully understand your concern here. In this instance, the books are being printed in the US and being shipped to the UK and EU.
Oh that... yeah I wont say the Reason but right now things made in the USA and are shipped Internationally wont be shipped on time, or at the quoted price. And if you are in the USA for the same reason you wont be getting a lot of things you use to get cheap.

That is quite interesting. Why the delay then?
How do you decide where the books are printed? Do you print all of them in the same place or do you split the printing to different countries? It would be more environment-friendly to print books in the same continent instead of shipping the books from other continents. E.g. my copies of all three 2024 core rulebooks were printed in Belgium.
Without going into details that don't belong here on these forums, trade/shipping between the USA and other countries has become problematic recently. For more information check your search engine of choice.

At a guess, the PHB, DMG, and Monster Manual were expected to sell a large number of physical copies, so they could afford the expense of having them printed near the distribution points, meanwhile Source Books and Adventure Books tend to sell in very limited numbers so it makes sense to only print them locally to where they are.
It's why you can still find DMGs, PHBs and Monster Manuals from all past editions fairly cheaply online, but might have a hard time finding Tasha's Cauldron of Everything online of cheaply. The core 3 books usually sell over a million physical copies day one and sell another 3~5 million copies over a 3 year period, while the additional books might sell 100k physical books over a 3 year period.

So we can expect similar delays for other books this year even though nothing is confirmed yet?

This is beyond the scope of my job—I don't have any more information or insight into the decision, though others have offered information that you can pursue on your own.

It could be as simple as a clerical error giving them a booked slot and not being discovered in time to find a closer open slot.
