I am a multiclassing Bladesinger 13/ Fighter 1 and I am about to gain another level. So do I go with the 14th level Bladesinger and add +5 to my melee attacks? Or do I add a 2nd level to Fighter and grab Action Surge?
The current Adventure we are in ends a 15th level...
The choice is between using action surge maybe 3-4 or possibly 5 times? Or having another +5 every time you bladesing? Definitely go for bladesinger.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
I would say in this circumstance hitting more often is going to be worth more than hitting more once per day.
It's not a bonus to attack, at 14th level a Bladesinger can add their Intelligence modifier to melee weapon damage rolls they make while Bladesong is active. Which as a 16th level character is something they can use five times per day for one minute per use. Which is overall quite a substantial possible boost to damage.

Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Switch out either GFB or BB. You probably won't need both melee attack cantrips and you'll just end up using one of them more often, anyway https://xender.vip/ .
I currently have two weapon fighting so my Melee is usually Shadow Blade two attacks. Scimitar Bonus action with Booming Blade.
Booming Blade doesn't work with two-weapon fighting. It's a Cast a Spell action and is an action to cast.
Since Level 6 bladesinger lets you swap one attack from your extra attack action with a cantrip cast, you can use Attack action to hit with BB then SB, and then bonus action SB.
The overall result is basically the same, but it is important to remember in case you want to misty step or something.

Action Surge is every Short Rest, not Long Rest.

Even so, most groups tend not to take that many short rests per long rest.
True, which is why I voted Bladesinger over Fighter.

When playing a wizard, there are very few times when taking a level of any other class is worth not taking a level of wizard.
