Hi everyone, excluding one response to a thread last updated in 2019, I am very new to DND beyond. I have been doing DND for about a year now and have started DMing my first big campaign. There is just one player, but he plays 3 characters, a human fighter, yuan-ti sorcerer, and a gnome bard. Here is some info on my campaign. What do you think of it?
Why do ships ship cargo and cars carry shipments? Why do we have fingertips but not toetips and can tiptoe but can't tipfinger. These are all the questions of the universe.

Why do ships ship cargo and cars carry shipments? Why do we have fingertips but not toetips and can tiptoe but can't tipfinger. These are all the questions of the universe.
Sumaari is a large world that is divided into two sections. Aboveground, the world is divided again into two parts by the drifting sea, and there are two major empires; Zagakra (Which rules the entire Upper Half), and Kassan (Which rules most of the Lower Half). The Sumaarian Alps provide protection from the Orc wartribes except for one tiny gap of safety, Serpent Pass. To ensure safety, Zagakra constantly has troops stationed at a fortified outpost to stop incursions. Once, when the Orcs were united by Gruumsh, they managed to break out and slaughtered many people. This was called the battle of Thorntree and it was only by finally putting their differences aside with the Kassanian empire were they able to win. But even after this cooperation, the empires were not at peace. They are currently at war, each one wanting the others territorry.
In The Below, the large Dwarven empire of Chonortis has established an unbreakable position in the Earth's Jaws, and have expanded their empire to the Dwarven mining colonies situated in tunnel-like villages. Chonortis often trades with the Kassanian empire, giving them iron and minerals in return for materials only found above ground. Although they trade, there is no alliance between Chonortis and Kassan, and the Dwarven cities seek to remain out of sight, hence why dwarves are rare in the above world.
Races:
Humans: The most common race, humans make up the majority of Kassan and Zagakra, and are not very trusting of other races. They tend to be fair-skinned in the North, while the inhabitants of Kassan are a lot darker.
Elves: Elves are rare in Sumaari, with almost all of the population consisting of wood elves. In the times where witches were burned at the stake, high elves were wiped out, and the few, if any, remaining drow reside in The Below. Small communities of wood elves live in Thorntree Woods, but most of them live in Phantom Woods, using their powers to make people believe the woods are haunted. In Sumaari, Elves can live to over 10,000 years.
Dwarves: Whilst some dwarves live in human society masquerading as short humans, the vast majority of them are found in The Below. Dwarves live to around 500 years old and have a patriarchal society that despises magic.
Gnomes: Gnomes are one of the only races that are accepted by humans, and are commonly found working in tinkerers shops in human towns. Small forest gnome communities live in the rocky areas near the base of scorpion mountains, making themselves at home in the rocky ground and dense foliage.
Yuan-ti: The most despised race in all of Sumaari, even non-humans are slow to trust Yuan-ti. Despite being the native race to Sumaari, they were hunted to near-extinction when humans came from the south and thought them to be beasts. However, it is not all bad for the Yuan-ti. In their honour, the main currency in Sumaari (Replacing the gold piece) is Yuans.
Half-humans: Half-humans are rare in Sumaari, and tend to grow up with their non-human parent, seeing as humans mistrust non-humans.
Aaracockra: No one knows where Aaracockra came from. Some say that they were druids gone wrong, some say they were created by the air gods, but not even the wisest elves truly know. Aaracockra are generally regarded with fear and confusion, but they don't see society very much. They live in tribes as nomads at the top of the Sumaari Alps, and their hatred for Orcs is the main reason the Orcs haven't made it over the Alps yet.
Bugbears: Bugbears roam the world as mercenaries for hire, offering their services as assassins and soldiers. They are treated with fear from humans and are seen in human cities bargaining for or collecting a bounty.
Thri-keen. Another alien race, the most prominent theory is that the Thri-keen came to Sumaari on Kassan's meteor. They make wandering tribes in the Kassa desert and are rarely seen.
How is magic viewed?
Magic us viewed in many different ways depending on where you came from. After their clash with the drow, Dwarves despise magic, but will turn a blind eye on doctors that dabble in healing.
In the Zagakrian empire, magic used to be fiercely persecuted, with guilty victims burnt at the stake. It was this practise that lead to the extinction of high-elves. However, nowadays magic is accepted, as King Ghaz is a sorcerer. Despite this, common folk are still mistrusting of magic.
In Kassan however, magic is neither hated or loved, being viewed as necessary but not something someone should purposefully seek. However, due to their idolisation of Kassaka and his shield, they do encourage people to become clerics and paladins.

Ancient events:
Kassan's meteor:
At first, the Zagakrian empire ruled over what we now call Kassan, but one day, a second sun was seen in the sky. People were terrified and panicked, but a hero came from Kassan and stood in the meteors path. As he waited at the top of Scorpion mountain, he held up his great shield. The gods saw his incredible act of bravery, and granted his shield the ability of absorption. And it was so, when the meteor came down, the hero raised his shield above his head, and the fiery might of the meteor was absorbed into the shield.
The hero then used his new power to free his people from the Zagakrian empire, and started a new empire. The heroes name was Kassaka, and that was how Kassan got its name. However, he wished to remain at peace with the Zagakrian empire, but when his great grandson took the throne, he decided that the land they had was not enough. He used the shield (A family hierloom) to fight the Zagakrian empire, and would have won if it was not for the oldest elf alive; Breeze. Breeze stole the shield and hid it so that the great grandson lost his power.
Ever since though, the empires have been at war. Legend has it that if a descendant of Kassaka found the shield, he would be able to bring peace to the warring empires.
The Twilight Wars:
When Dwarves first colonized The Below, another race was already there. The drow had fled to Sumaari to escape Lolth, the spider goddess, and had made refuge in the darkness of The Below. At first, the Dwarves and Drow got along, but one day, Lolth found the escaped Drow. She planned to make the two races wipe each other out, and so infused a Drow priest with her might, and whispered in her sleep warnings of the Dwarves.
The priest raised an army, and, using her magic, she started a war with the Dwarves. Aboveground, people experienced destructive earthquakes, and, in their wake, mountains rose from the ground, creating the Sumaarian Alps, and stopping the war between the Orcs and the Zagakrian empire. After the human's got word of what was really happening, they sent their armies to help the Dwarves, and managed to defeat the Drow. In the process, Drow were wiped from existence on Sumaari, and the Dwarves developed a hatred of magic.
The Forming of the Gods.
At first, the world of Sumaari was wild, untamed, tribes populating its surface. However, a band of adventurers -- A Dwarf druid, A Human wizard, An Orc Barbarian, A Yuan-ti Sorcerer, An Aaracockra Ranger, and an Elf Cleric -- teamed up to defeat wandering monsters. This group were called The Six, and they adventured together for many years. At this time, the races lived in harmony, and humans were not as common, but one day, The Six defeated an almighty dragon, Pykranos. When they saw the treasure hoard, they were overcome with greed, and each one argued on the use of the treasure.
Chono, the dwarf, wanted to use it to reestablish the natural world, and help protect hunted creatures; Zagak, the human, wanted to help establish a stable civilisation so that the races would be safe. Gruumsh, the orc, wanted to build weapons to help the races hunt and defend themselves; Sumaar, the yuan-ti, wanted to use it to make medicines to help heal the sick and wounded. A'iar, the aaracockra, wanted to leave the gold to the mountains and creatures, and Thamior, the elf, wanted to dedicate the treasure to scholarly research and studies.
They argued for days, until finally, each one convinced their way was the best, they attacked each other. Equal in power, they all died, but their spirits, empowered by their desperation and love of their race, rose to godhood, and became the six main gods of Sumaari. Many civilisations were named after The Six, and in honour of the Yuan-ti being the native race, they named the land Sumaari after Sumaar.

Sorry for all the mess, I am new to making threads, but to sum it up, basically I was wondering if anyone could read the lore, and maybe give me some ideas for lore, races, anything really. I have a link to the maps here: Maps of Sumaari.pptx (Its hyperlinked so just click on towns to go to there map), the lore is above, and yeah. I have one player who plays a Yuan-ti Sorcerer, a Human Fighter, and a Halfling Bard. They have just found a baby owlbear called snowball (Snowy owlbear) and are raising her. Basically, the campaign is focused on a national war between the Orcs, the Zagakrian empire, the Kassanian empire, and the Dwarves. The Orcs use ettins and ride owlbears, the Zagakrian empire has the largest army and has the help of the Aaracockra, the Kassanian empire has is going to try to forge an alliance with the Dwarves, the elite of which ride Purple worms. Any feedback welcome, thanks so much!
