I was going in to build a Hexblade Warlock but if I select the 2014 rules I no longer see anything outside of the core rulebook classes for 2014. Do you need to purchase the 2024 PHB to use Tasha's etc?
Make sure you check the boxes for "2014 Core Rules" and "Expanded Rules" and "Legacy" in the character creator to include all the options for everything you've purchased when creating new characters.
They have removed all access to 2014 purchases for character creation.
I've logged a ticket to get my money back for digital purchases I can no longer use.
The 2014 core rules are included in 2014 core content and the other books (such as Tasha's) in 'Expanded Rules' Legacy should cover both, but apparently is there as a confirmation or something?
I think I have it sorted now. You can't use shared content in the character builder. My brother in law and I are in multiple campaigns together and we've always shared content with each other. You have to own the content now to have it pop up. Shortly after buying Tasha's, the options populated for me. Very obnoxious and now I'm curious if players I've invited to campaign's will see my content in the same way. I know they couldn't see the shared content but now I'm concerned there will be future restrictions. I guess its back to pen and paper if that happens.

As I was curious I went and added a new character to my brother in law's campaign. He has Xanathar's and I do not, I cannot select options from Xanathar. He is still sharing content with me, I can still access and read the book Xanathar's in the library but the option's are not available in the Character Builder.

That would be removing the entire point to sharing content...

To use shared content in the character builder, you have to actually be making the character in the campaign that has the shared content. You have to join the campaign with the character you want to use the shared options with. This has always been this way.

2014 stuff can definitely be used, and definitely can be shared, so your problems are more localized.
Check whether your entitlements are in sync.
Is Xanathar's being shared with you in that campaign, or elsewhere?
It's possible that something's broken in a way that support will need to fix, but it's almost certainly one of those.

This doesn't work.

No they haven't. This misinformation is ridiculous.
