I've got a quite multiclassed lv 12 spellcaster at the moment. I was wondering about what everyone thinks about never getting beyond 5th lv spells in a pure spellcaster build. I'll end up with a lv9 slot at lv 20 and deal fantastic damage as it is. More so im wondering how important are those higher lv spells late game.
Personally the higher level spells are what makes the grind so worth it. And the end-level Wizard features, particularly 18th level, are seriously sweet. Infinite Shield and Misty Step? Yes please. And who in their right mind passes up casting a Wish everyday?
If a Sorc or Wizard I don't multiclass. The spells and features are sweet, as is the second 7th level spell slot. And in your build you lose out on an ASI/Feat unless you homebrew things.
Then again, I don't play "just for combat" characters. Dealing most damage is one of the least of my concerns on character building.
