Will Brute, Invention, and Giant Soul remain available on DDB for the foreseeable future or will they eventually be removed? With these officially not making it into a finished product (yet) does that mean they might not remain permanently? They're all really fun and fairly well-balanced options.
Edit: I am aware of this quote
*Unearthed Arcana options will be removed from DDB when they are published in a hardcover and/or deemed by WOTC to be archived.
But what exactly are the criteria for that content going kaput? Will popular options remain available regardless or will all UA eventually leave the site?
I guess another question would be, is there any chance we could see this content released (officially) outside of a physical book print (even as a charity option as the Tortle was). Like an official UA compedium of the most popular stuff.
Personally, I don't know - it's up to Wizards of the Coast to decide when the playtest period is complete for any specific UA content. When that happens, it will be removed from D&D Beyond.
Any characters that are using that content will continue to function, but once removed that UA content can no longer be added to characters.
I do genuinely appreciate the way releases/withdrawals of content are handled so that people can still use their characters. Kudos to Wizards and the DDB team for that.
All the staff & moderators at D&D Beyond are massive D&D nerds - we love the game, so we understand just how devastating it would be if a favourite character suddenly had their race or subclass forcibly removed!
Many Unearthed Arcana are given out specifically to playtest material being developed for a specific product. While it's not always directly stated and can therefore be difficult to determine, it stands to reason that the release of a product invalidates only those Unearthed Arcana that were connected to that particular product.
However, Unearthed Arcana in PDF form remains freely available on the WotC's own site, and can be used to recreate the race as homebrew.
