Hi there- I'm preeeetty new to D&D Beyond- but I am absolutely loving it. I've been able to figure out a lot of things myself thus far- but there are a few things that I'm having a bit of trouble with. Nothing major- certainly nothing that I'm having serious trouble with- but things that I would like to do to keep things organized.
The one that I'm trying to figure out right now- is having multiple books in my inventory and customizing each of them. For instance- in the game I've picked up 4 books. I added the first one to my inventory- customized the name and it's description thusly-
"A Study on Satyrs" - "A medium sized book, bound in slightly damaged brown leather- it describes the social structure that groups of Satyrs observe when in groups." Qty: 1
I went to add another book- and I wanted to customize it to the same degree, but I just increased the quantity of the "Study on Satyrs". Is there any way to have unique mundane items- so that in my inventory I can have a list of the books that I have and their description- so that my inventory would look like-
"A Study on Satyrs" - "A medium sized book, bound in slightly damaged brown leather- It describes the social structure that groups of Satyrs observe when in groups." Qty: 1
"A Study on Sprites" - "A smaller book, bound in a blue, leather-like material- in which is described the physiology of the small folk." Qty: 1
"A Treatise on Dryads" - "A thin book, the covers made of what appears to be wood or bark, slightly burned. An anecdotal book in which the author describes how they brokered peace between a village and a dryad that they had been angering." Qty: 1
Hi there BusFullOfLlamas and welcome to D&D Beyond!
the way that the customisation system is designed doesn't work so well for situations like you've described, but there are several ways you can record the information on your character's books.
The easiest way is to click on OTHER POSSESSIONS within the EQUIPMENT tab of the character sheet. This area allows you to record any information you like about the character's possessions, typing free text.
Ah. Thanks for the reply! I was hoping that I'd be able to have the formatting of the other items and not have them free text- but I suppose it is what it is! Thanks for the reply.

You can click on manage equipment -- custom items -- + add custom item. Then you can change its name, description, weight, and cost.
I don't know why Stormknight never mentions it when questions like this pop up.
Yup, that's definitely a much better solution for this!
Apologies for forgetting about that.
I've written "don't forget about custom items" on a post-it note and stuck it on the bottom of my monitor. ;)
