So, I have this character - Kerri de Valle she is a Human Transmutation Wizard, so would not usually get a free a feat, the the DM whose game I would be playing her in, said that all characters who play in her world, gets a free feat when they start, regardless of whether or not they should have one by the official rules.
That means I can now give Kerri a free feat and I was thinking of giving her the Lightly Armored feat, so that I can boost her AC using Studded Leather Armor.
With Studded Leather Armor, her AC would be 14 (12 + DEX modifier) instead of just 12 (unarmoured + DEX modifier) - That is a difference of 2 points, which would increase her survivability by quite a lot. It would also mean she wouldn't need to waste a spell slot on Mage Armor
But I am not sure if I should use my feat on being lightly armored, or if there is a better feat I should I take. Being lightly armored doesn't seem like it would really age well as the character progress as the best light armor I could wear, would be Studded Leather and that would always just make her AC 12 + DEX modifier.
I agree, Lightly Armored won’t scale very well. At a certain point your DM will be hitting AC 14 on rolls of 2 or higher at which point it’s useless.
I’m torn between Lucky and War Caster. It really depends on how often you’re going to be concentrating on spells and how often you’re going to be using spells that require an attack roll.
I have a couple of good otions in mind, but first, may I ask why normal human and not variant or another race?
I think magic initiate would be a better choice than lightly armored. You can take mage armor and 2 more cantrips, now you don't have to use a slot the first time per day you cast it.
Lucky and war caster are both good. You could also take skilled or prodigy for more out of combat options.

I wanted her to be a human and at first I thought about being a variant, but because my DM gives everyone a free feat, she doesn't let you play variant human because then those people would have 2 free feats at the start of the game, which could potentially make them OP as the game progresses and levels up and it makes it harder for her to balance encounters.
So, she doesn't let you be variant human - just standard human.
Would your DM allow a Dragonmarked human from eberron? The Mark of making human would get you a +2 INT, +1 DEX, mending, a tool proficiency (with +1d4 to rolls using it), and a wizard cantrip you can change daily. And your starting feat could be greater dragon mark for another +1 INT, fabricate and creation
Observant, increasing your Intelligence score for an extra +1 to your spell DC and to hit rolls, plus a +5 to your passive Investigation and Perception could be very useful for you too. Spell Sniper wouldn't be bad either.
The problem is there are so many great choices for that character.

My 1st choice would also be Magical Initiate (Wizard) to gain 2 additional cantrips and Mage Armor free 1/day if you are after Armor Class.
My personal preference as a human wizard would be Prodifgy:
Prodigy
Prerequisite: Half-elf, half-orc, or human
You have a knack for learning new things. You gain the following benefits:
You gain one skill proficiency of your choice, one tool proficiency of your choice, and fluency in one language of your choice.
Choose one skill in which you have proficiency. You gain expertise with that skill, which means your proficiency bonus is doubled for any ability check you make with it. The skill you choose must be one that isn’t already benefiting from a feature, such as Expertise, that doubles your proficiency bonus.

Really not sure what to do here!
Can I have your thoughts please

Hopefully by that point a barbarian with 23 AC will be able to grapple them with a DC 25 check to escape.
