I wonder if they'll be adding in the free materials. I know some stuff is missing (especially from the other publications like Volo's, SKT, etc), but even the material from the free Elemental Evil supplement is absent.
Hopefully I'm just being impatient on day 1, but I really hope they let us know what's going to happen with that.
My guess is that the only stuff you'll be able to access for free is the SRD stuff. Anything beyond that you'll probably have to prove you own it somehow or it'll only be available on a paid subscription model.
Yeah, if it ends up that you need a paid subscription I don't know how long I'll use this since I have the books already as well.
If you dont see the value in a connected, digitial experience with your fellow players and GM, with fully automated character sheets with built in leveling support, then beyond isnt for you. You wont be missed.

Why thank you for your condescending attitude. If everyone around here is as friendly as you are I won't miss it. ;)
Core, that can be found on other websites without a paywall. The main issue he's bringing up is that he would be paying for the same thing twice, which isn't something most people are for.

Thank you for being politer than me. Coffee is still kicking in.

Can you point me to a site made for offline play that syncs your character sheets to a central location, has automated form filling and automation on the character sheet, has a centralized listing of all the rules and resources you need to run a game, uses the core rules to let you drag and drop classes onto the sheet to fill it in for you, and have apps on every device? As far as im aware beyond is filling a niche that does not exist at all, and people claiming other services do it is a complete joke, and not true at all.
I agree with most, I don't think I'll be shelling out much money for a subscription when I already have most of the content in books. I'm just hoping that the other stuff makes it worth it.

Roll20 has quite a bit of that, though some of it is behind a subscription. Maybe try stepping down from your soapbox and showing others the same amount of respect as you expect to see yourself.

This doesn't have any of that yet. It looks promising and it looks nice. That said I haven't seen anything that I want to pay a subscription service for when I already own everything I need to play with the added benefit of not adding the distraction of laptops around the gaming table. I've been there a few times and I'm not a fan since people tend to get distracted. Add to that there's nothing beyond the SRD which isn't even enough to do AL games.
You're jumping down my throat over what you think I'm saying rather than what I am saying.

While roll20 has some of those features, it is not designed to be an offline game supplement, but is a VTT application made to be played on over the internet. Not at all similar, and works horribly for what beyond is able to bring to the physical table.
Source: almost 6000 hours on roll20, pro sub for over 2 years.

The title says it all. I am wondering if the Compendium includes everything in the Monster Manual.
Looks to just be creatures from the SRD - no Beholders, Mindflayers, etc.
Nope. Just the stuff publicly available in the OGL. Example: no goblin boss

I really hope it's a "prove you paid". I've got a whole bookshelf of stuff, but I don't know how badly I want to pay for it all a second time.
I think you can pay for it by subscription. Go to your account and there is a tab called "My Subscriptions"
I don't play bards, because it rhymes with farts
My Subscriptions actually seems to track the threads I've commented in on the forum, not money-for-content payments.
