Doing a quick calculation, buying all the separate parts comes to:
10+4+4+3+5=26
This should be everything in the book. BUT when I buy the entire book in one go, I pay 30. That's a difference of 4.
While this does not seem like a big difference, I does strike me as odd. I would think that buying everything separate would be at the very least be the same as buying the entire book in one purchase.
So far I've only done this calculation for the PHB, since that's the book I'm currently llking at to buy. But I wouldn't be at all surprosed to see the same for other books as well.

That only gets you the character creation options. You'd still be missing the book itself, which is what the $20 Compendium Content Only option gets you.
The PHB and XGtE had so many player options it was cheaper to get the whole book with a coupon than to buy just the player options piecemeal ($22.50), plus the compendium for these 2 books are very useful.

ah ok, so if you buy the seperate options you don't get the compendium. That's good to know, and will even be worth the little extra cash.
