can someone teach me the basics of playing? i have created 3 characters (with my friend's help/advice) but i still dont understand a lot of different things. Can someone help here?

As far as learning the basics, one way to learn is to reach out to the friends that helped you build those characters, find a DM, and get a game going! Anyone here on the forums can tell you how to play, but I've found it doesn't quite stick unless you're actually playing yourself. :)

Hi. First port of call would be reading the Free Rules provided on this very website. There's slight differences between the 2014 rules and the 2024 which you might need to understand depending on where you end up playing but I've linked the 2024 rules as I think they're more user friendly. There's also a lot of great Youtube videos outlining the basics, obviously you'll find some creators more to your taste than others but Ginny Di recently did an Absolute Beginners Guide that's pretty good. Beyond that as LaTia says above the best way to learn is to jump in, form or join a group with the friend who helped you and learn what you need as you go along

I would say, read the free books:
