Apologies if this is not the best location for this inquiry, still very new to this Forum.
This summer a group of first time D&D players, myself included, got together for a campaign with a first time DM. All in all it went very well and largely everything was by the book and the established rules. But as we were creating our Level 1 characters, our DM allowed us to choose two Feats for our characters. I think he did it initially in error, but let us keep our two Feats in order to allow us to feel empowered.
So for example, as a Level 1 Tiefling Cleric I took the Healer's Kit feat as well as the Elemental Adept: Fire feat. We ended our summer at level 4 and I took the Observant feat at this point. I've been able to plug the Observant feat into my character sheet but I have yet to figure out a way to add those two other initial feats to my character.
As D&D Beyond follows the rules and progression system of the handbook, I'm unsure if there's a way to manually override or "homebrew" this into the Character page I've built for my Tiefling Cleric on this service.
More character customization options will come (such as adding additional feats), but D&D Beyond wanted to start their baseline at "following the rules". Homebrew feats are on the horizon as well.

In addition to that, I would like the ability to add proficiencies to a character. For example, if we take an in-game break of something like two months my character may have taken that time to learn about blacksmithing or something of that nature.
This is a must before my group will be able to use D&D Beyond. Custom feats, backgrounds, and traits are commonplace in my campaigns.
This could be remedied in the near term by allowing players to add arbitrary feats, traits, and backgrounds that have only a title and description, along with arbitrary skill proficiencies and expertise. In the same vein, allowing DM's of campaigns to add homebrew 'notes' to any rule would be very helpful. These would be stored as part of the specific campaign or character sheet.

Yeah, you definitely cannot do that as of now, and I tend to doubt this will be high on the list of features for Curse. But you never know.
