I was listening to a podcast called the Dungeoncast, and they were discussing the owlbear in one of the more episode recent episodes, and it said that it used to have a hug attack by default, but it is missing in 5e. Any way I could homebrew it in without breaking the monster? What damage rolls and attack bonus would be reasonable?
Google is the answer bro. 10 seconds is all it takes to come up with results that show it as a grapple attack that when successful leads into a 2d8 bear hug. Homebrew is always pure opinion so, "break the monster" does not apply unless YOU think it does.

2d8 seems reasonable for a CR 3 monster. My family will be in for a surprise next time I DM for them.
