TL;DR: I want some data on the leading causes of death in adventurers, here's the linkto the Google Forms survey, multiple submissions accepted for those of you who have lost multiple characters. It's got four questions.
Hello everyone.
So recently, for a rather innocuous reason related to another project of mine, I got to wondering what was the most statistically likely way for an adventurer to meet their end. At first I tried to just think about it to figure it out based on my own best guess. Then I decided "Screw this 'thinking' nonsense. Let's collect some data."
So I went ahead and cooked up a quick survey to try and find the leading causes of death in adventurers, and figured here would be as good a place as any to throw it out to get a decent sample size of data.
I tried to be as inclusively comprehensive as possible when listing out causes of death, but the "Other" option is there if you really need it.
I also went ahead and asked for class and level, since while I'm collecting data I figure it'd also be fun to get some other data points to play around with. I've always had a hunch that adventurers either die young (low level) or become unkillable, and that rogues are always the first ones to go, and this seemed like a good place to test that.
At some point after responses stop coming in, I'll probably go about doing some data visualization to share with everybody as cloying secondary grab for attention for fun. And to put off doing actual work, obviously. Until such time, any spoilers I post are either me talking about the data or talking about a major plot event in that thing you don't want spoiled.
One thing to note (which I repeated in the survey for those who just clicked the link in the tl;dr) is that unless a character canonically died—their death was confirmed in-game or in a post-game epilogue—they do not count as "died of natural causes" for the purposes of the survey. Additionally, if the character's story is unfinished (due to an ongoing campaign in which they haven't died yet or due to the campaign they were a part of dying) then they are also ineligible for the survey.
Odds are they will die eventually, but unless it's confirmed to have happened at some point, there's every chance the character finds a path to functional immortality and never dies. They are adventurers after all.
Thanks in advance for participating, and I look forward to seeing and sharing the results.

Here's the link again so you don't have to scroll to the top of the post. And here's a My Hero Academia spoiler because why not.
Hahahahaha... HA HA HA HA HA...!!!
...ahem. Sorry.
I'd have to say, early on...and even now...my characters have been rather death-prone.
Save for my delightful dwarf barbarian...a Zealot Barbarian is remarkably hard to kill.
