I'm wanting to get a poster size print out of the player's map of Chult. Am I going to run into issues getting a print shop to do this since I am (obviously) not the copyright holder? I'm not like trying to print a bunch of them for resale or anything, just one copy for personal use in the campaign I'm DMing.
I've yet to run into anyone throwing a fit, the big thing is to make sure that you don't (obviously) resell the print as your own work. That's where the issue is legally speaking. Otherwise if its for personal use, then I don't see any issue.
Possibly. I used to work in copy/print, and the answer is a solid maybe. Whether or not I'd do the job for you would pretty much be a coin toss, depending on how shifty you are about it. If you explain it's a map for your D and D group, and you bought a digital copy with printables, I'd probably be fine with it because I use common sense--If it's obviously designed to be printed or photocopied, I generally didn't give people trouble. However, it is possible you'll run into a stickler who wants to make sure you have permission. It would actually be really nice if Curse and Wizards could provide us with some sort of release we could use for individual copies at a shop.
MIke Schley has released a hi-resolution version of both the DM and Players version of the Chult peninsula for free on his website. It's a huge file and he says it's perfect for printing.
He has permission to release the other maps he's done in Tomb of Annihilation on December 8th. He'll have hi-res versions of all the maps he did for sale at that time.
I just tried to print the player handout map of Chult at Staples and they said they wouldnt print it without permission from Wizards of the Coast. So now I'm waiting for their support to open and see what a headache that process will be. :/

I have a friend who works at an engineering firm. I had him print out those maps using their big drafting printer and they do, in fact, look amazing and are perfectly sized to roll out on a table like a large exploration map for the players to mark on and plot routes through.

Yep, I submitted that request this morning and received a response just before the end of the day. Emailed the letter to the email address given to me by the Staples employee and they completed my print tonight.
