I'm mostly curious what everybody's take is on whether or not this is meant to replace the Ravenite from the Taldorei Campaign Setting, or if it's meant to be like just another version?
Just to clarify, you cannot use their racial Vengeful Assault with a Monk Unarmed attack, correct?
Depends. Are you wielding a spear, like all monks should? If so, the spear will allow Vengeful Assault to trigger, and then you can take your VA attack with an unarmed attack instead of the spear.
If you're actually empty-handed, I believe VA can't legally trigger, so you can't take the reaction.

It's supposed to replace it. This is the official version of Ravenite Dragonborn in 5e, and I don't think we'll ever see any other official variants.
Please check out my homebrew, I would appreciate feedback:
Spells, Monsters, Subclasses, Races, Arcknight Class, Occultist Class, World, Enigmatic Esoterica forms

Since it does specify weapon you're wielding..I'd say no. But check with your DM if they'll allow it.
