Hey guys, I'm getting ready to start my second campaign as a player, CoS, we are just finishing Princes of Apocalypse. When we are finished with CoS the DM and I are switching places (we are a group of co-workers and friends) he is going to play and I am going to DM.
I'm still new at DMing, I started to DM Hoard of the Dragon Queen as a side campaign when 1 of the people couldn't play for a bit.
I am looking for suggestions on a module to run when I take over, looking for something not too complicated since it will be our third campaign but still not too easy. Something fun that will keep everyone entertained while I settle in as a DM.
I was thinking of these as options:
Out of the abyss
Baldurs Gate, Descent into Avernus
Storms Kings Thunder
Tomb of Annihilation
Or starting over Hoard of the Dragon Queen and running both modules
So, I'd suggest Dragon of IceSpire Peak. Primarily because there are 3 modules AFTER that that can be connected.
Otherwise, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, as you could then do Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage (though, I've never finished it, it can get a bit dull/boring at times due to the slog of combat with, at least when I was playing it, not much RP chance.)
Out of the Abyss is a very cool campaign, but it's pretty demanding. There's a lot of prep work involved for the DM. It also has a lot of focus on survival in very adverse circumstances, not every group enjoys that sort of thing equally. As a module I give it two thumbs up, just keep in mind it's a really big commitment for the DM.
Tomb of Annihilation would be my suggestion out of the 10+ levels campaigns WotC published so far. It's a fun, pulpy romp with an Indiana Jones kind of vibe. Still quite a bit of prep work, but definitely less than OotA and since the campaign naturally falls into five areas it's not hard to cut it down into more manageable chunks. The start is a bit slow and the setup to get the players involved is a bit awkward or forced, but once past that you should be golden.
That aside, I'll echo Inumiru's suggestion of the Icespire Peak sequence. Easier to digest than a 200+ page module for the DM, and it's a good set of adventures.
Alternatively, you could take a chance on Candlekeep Mysteries - it gets released in less than a week. Wait and see what the overall quality will be, but personally I enjoy a good mystery so I'm looking forward to it.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
Hit up DM's Guild and check out some of CCC modules. Or choose the DDAL modules which go with a certain season. Search for D&D Adventurers League Player & DM Pack for the season 9 content catalogue.
To every new DM I recommend the same thing every time- Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
Dungeon of the Mad Mage is the quintessential module for a new DM. It teaches you how dungeons work, and how to master them. The fluff is kept to a minimum so you can really learn this most important skill. Really soak in the different kinds of monsters, encounters, traps, puzzles, and everything else.
Every dungeon I make still follows the same basic outline found for each level in Dungeon of the Mad Mage.
Its the best module for new players too, because it teaches them the most important part of D&D as a player- how to fight and dungeon crawl. All the fluff can come later once you master that.
Imma agree with inumiru and pangurjan, DoIP is great both if you're a first time DM or a first-time player, plus it is overall a well-crafted experience for anybody.
