I'm attempting to make my first homebrew anything and I decided to try to make a subclass for Ranger seeing at not many people seem to like playing it. I'm having issues understanding what I need to change in order to publish the subclass so I can get feedback on what I might need to change. I think it's because I have some spells from Xanathar's Guide to Everything as well as the Player's Handbook but it could also be in part that I copied the text for psionic die as this subclass has psychic abilities (like the soulknife rogue and psi warrior fighter). I like the spells I picked out for the expanded spell list so if the issue is the spells, would I have to homebrew a variant to the spells or something for it to work?
For a start, don't publish until it is ready, because you can no longer edit it. Instead you have to create a new version and all the older versions remain on record. It is much better to post the details (or a link to google docs or similar) in the Homebrew & House Rules forum for feedback.
When it is time to publish, you can only include spells that are publicly available. That means the basic rules and the elemental evil player's companion.
