I'm wanting to create a demon hunter which plays like a tank in Wow. So far I am coping the base kit of the blade master fighter (I like the manoeuvre dice) but will add a few spells such as infernal strike/... what is missing: is the fury or pain aspect to it to mitigate dmg: or metamorphosis and evade.
If I understand your question correctly you're looking for a "Fury and Pain" ability and an evasion ability? I haven't played WoW, so I don't know exactly, but I suspect you might want to look at the barbarian and the rogue. The barbarian rage gives you resistance against bludgeoning, piercing and slashing (at lvl 3 you can choose bear totem to gain resistance against elemental damage). A level 5 rogue has Uncanny dodge (half damage as a reaction) and Evasion at level 7. You also have the fighter parry maneuver and the Shield Master feat for damage reduction/evasion.
Yer I hadn't thought of those cross-skills. But I think the barbarian rage would act like metamorphosis. I lik The blood hunter spend health with a crimson Rite
Hi Savy_Winston, welcome to the D&D Beyond forums!
Looking into more existing classes, WoW's Demon Hunter is effectively a rogue with fiendish magic in D&D. I'd start by looking at multiclassing warlock and rogue, but you won't get your tankiness there. However, you do get evasion and uncanny dodge. You can also swap out rogue with monk, which can still use blades and also gets evasion and dodge as a bonus action (for ki points), which will give you more resilience overall along with slowfall, and running up walls.
Consider battlemaster fighter with two levels of wizard for the bladesinger subclass and a little magic for a true tank. Like Demon Hunter, wizard's bladesinger is exclusive to elves, and you could attach a demonic transformation visual to the bladesong feature. You may not need to homebrew it at all.
Either of those options give you access to green-flame blade, which matches with demon hunter's iconic felflame glaives.
As mentioned, you have barbarian. The problem with barbarian for you is it's Strength based, and doesn't really have a feasible Dexterity based build to my knowledge. If that's fine by you then perhaps look at the Storm Herald subclass, where you can radiate fire damage.
You may also choose to multiclass into sorcerer, as opposed to wizard or warlock, with one of the hybrid options. Draconic sorcerer gets scales and wings, much like WoW demon hunters.
Last but not least, the paladin class. You have the 'Oath of Vengeance' subclass, which effectively sums up demon hunters. Paladins are tanky, and if you're not sold then consider that 'vengeance' is the name of the demon hunter's tank spec in WoW. You also get some cool magic, including smites on your melee hits which you could flavor as demonic fire or something along those lines. They also get the Hunter's Mark spell, and I quote:
To these paladins — sometimes called avengers or dark knights — their own purity is not as important as delivering justice.
The only downside I saw is that I was hoping my stat priority to be more DEX then STR. But if there isn't a way around that then that's life.
Just reading about the Eldritch Knight as well with would be cool mixed with a paladin. I Just not sure if its Dex or STR.
Paladins want to be Str-based, but Dex is possible, especially with the second fighting style you get from a level of fighter. Of course, a paladin (Oath of Vengeance)/fighter (Eldritch Knight) has three problems. First, Extra Attack from multiple classes doesn't stack. That's easily solved by not putting more than 4 levels into one of the two classes. Second, you need Str/Dex, Int, and Cha. That can be solved by not taking spells that need a high spellcasting ability (including spells that use an attack roll or saving throw) from one of your classes. Third, you need DM approval to multiclass in or out of paladin without at least 13 Strength.
One option would be to go primarily paladin, taking absorb elements;shield;green-flame blade; one of booming blade, dancing lights, or light; and one or two of alarm, mage armor, magic missile, or protection from evil and good (depending on whether you go to 3 or 4 levels of fighter) as your Eldritch Knight spells. Note that you can replace one--and only one--of those 1st-level spells with one from any other school of magic, though you should still avoid spells that require an attack roll or saving throw. That's the option I recommend if you go that route, primarily because too many of your paladin features use your Charisma, but your green-flame blade won't be optimal. Frankly, though, green-flame blade is best if you have max Str/Dex (unless you're a Hexblade warlock), max spellcasting ability, enough stuff like Second Wind and Fighting Style to make it reasonable for you to be in melee, and not Extra Attack.

:O Thank you thank you... Thank you.
My knowledge of multi-classing is very very limited at the moment, but these combinations sound awesome.
The only downside I saw is that I was hoping my stat priority to be more DEX then STR. But if there isn't a way around that then that's life.
