I'm in the process of creating a homebrew druid circle around witchcraft and at 2nd level they get to choose 1 option as a talisman that grants them some bonuses. I've got that part down, but again at 10th level the subclass gets the ability to create an additional talisman from the list. However I was wondering if it was possible to make it so they can't choose a talisman they've already created and stack the effects.
For example the Amulet talisman grants +2 to AC. I don't want the player to be able to choose it again at 10th and get +4 to AC. I'd like each choice to be unique. Aside from making it clear to the player and in descriptions, is it possible?
If you're putting the effects into the class feature options then it already shouldn't be possible to select the same one twice, you just have to make sure you only have a single feature for the options then set the levels where options known to 2,10 so they can pick one at 2nd- and another at 10th-level.
If the talismans are being created as magic items (so they can be given to others) then there's no way to restrict it except in the text.

I’m adding them as choices at level 2 and level 10 and I’ve just realised this was the case aha, I originally had it setup as a separate list in the 10th-level feature instead of making it so they get a second option at level 10 in first class feature.

Hello!

How exactly are you implementing the talismans?
