I am playing a wrestler/grappler. And I was thinking of a weapon like a folding metal chair, but someone then suggested this. Could be a weapon, or a useful tool... Would it be two handed? Versitle? It can be folded down to like 3-4 ft tall... and extend out to over 10 ft. Any special traits? Damage? Reminds me of old Kung Fu movies, how martial artists would use the rungs to pull people around or push them... climb up to a roof and pull it up behind them to keep fighting with it. Etc...
A folding chair is not a weapon, it would be considered an improvised weapon which you would want Tavern Brawler (feat) to make the best use of. I would highly recommend Tavern Brawler regardless for a wrestling-themed character as it gives several good and fun features. The ladder would also be an improvised weapon but you might convince a DM to let you reflavour a greatclub as a ladder. Note that you can take the "Shove" action with a weapon, and that's is how I would interpret the pulling/pushing people around with the ladder.
