So my DM gave my character the ability to as an action make a melee attack against another living creature. To the hit roll I can add my proficiency and STR or DEX. The damage is just 1d6 necrotic, no mods added. I heal myself equal to the damage done. How can I give my character this ability?
I tried making a feat and adding an action to the feat but it makes me choose STR or DEX and doesn't let the character decide which one. Also it adds the STR or DEX mod to the attack roll as well which I don't want. Any help please?
Yeah I had that but I didn't like the magic number -3. It won't auto update if I increase my dex mod at level 4. {{dex_mod}}*-1 would be great but I don't think I'm using that new syntax correctly. Not having to minus it out at all would be even better. If it wants to auto add the dex mod to the damage die fine, but give me a way to remove what it automatically did. (remove, not mitigate).
I think this format for the GUI would be nice (hopefully my made up syntax is intuitive)
Anyway, if currently I have to hard code a -3 then I guess I'll do that even if I don't like it. Let me know if anyone comes up with a better way of doing it that will auto update and not have magic numbers. Thanks.

Hi there Kreakdude,
I advise setting it up as a custom attack on the character sheet.
There's various ways to do this, but I used an odd trick of adding a damage modifier of -3 to counteract the damage bonus from the character's dex.

So for my use case I'd fill it out like this
This format would work for armor too
